If you were to ask Paul what his purpose in singing is the answer would be simple... souls. There is no better reason than to bring the message of Christ's love to His people than through the ministry of music. There are souls that hang in the balance and it is up to us to help release them from a life of torment and despair.
Raised in a Christian home he strayed far from the lifestyle he had been taught to adhere to. Living his life hooked on drugs and alcohol he was destroying his life on a daily basis. He was living his life as an alcoholic and drug addict and he was running as far away from God as he could. He was singing for rock bands and at one point was in the process of writing death metal music.
One night, after drinking for many hours, they were on their way home when their car crossed the center line and was headed straight for a semi truck and at the very last moment the car went back into it's own lane and they arrived home safely. God spared them because He had a purpose for Paul and it wasn't long before He moved in his life and life changed for Paul and Kelly.
Paul knows there are people out there who are lost, hurting, confused and seemingly without hope. He knows there is a world of hurting people who need to hear the message of hope that can only come from Christ and His love. This is the message of the music. Every song, every note will give hope to the hopeless, bread to the hungry and water to the thirsty soul.
As a Country Christian artist Paul believes every song should tell a story. For instance, his recent CD features the song "Under Amazing Grace" which tells the story of Paul's close call with death and God's mercy and grace to keep him safe. "The music is the message", says Paul, "there are souls out there waiting for someone to tell them about Jesus and they won't go to hear the preaching of God's word. It's what God called me to do, bring the message of the cross, of His mercy, of His grace and His love for us. Regardless of what they have done, regardless of where they come from it's important for them to know that God is love."
